At Mrs. Root's Organics, providing delicious  and healthy ways for people to nourish themselves is our passion.  The idea of Mrs. Root's Organics began in my small home kitchen in 2006.  After spending many years researching and experiencing first-hand the ill-effects certain inflammatory foods can cause in the body, I started to experiment with my diet.  And what I found was that by eating the best I could positively affected my energy, my immunity and my ability to live a life worth living.  I also noticed that these dietary changes had a positive impact on my children and husband's health. 

And although my family enjoys eating healthy, we still want to be able to indulge in occasional "snacks" or "treats" that are nourishing, but delicious.  So in 2006, I set out to make unconventional desserts that would satisfy my family's sweet tooth while avoiding the detriments that other high-fat, sugar-filled and allergy-laden dessert options can have.

My greatest challenge was to create products that used only natural sweeters and absolutely no refined sugars, dairy or eggs.  In addition,  I wanted some options that were gluten-free.  Another challenge was to incorporate organic fruits and vegetables in my baked goods, that would add an extra vitamin boost.  After two years of experimenting and perfecting I created a product that my friends and family could enjoy without guilt.  My husband loves to eat Mrs. Root's Muffins for breakfast and my children love them as a pick me up before their afternoon soccer practice.  My friends serve them at dinner parties with tea or coffee.  And of course, they make lovely healthy alternatives as birthday or thank you gifts.  

And where did the name "Mrs. Root's" come from?  Well, when I began making my Root Muffins, I spent alot of time experimenting with different root vegetables that would work.  I was surrounded in the kitchen for hours on end with carrots, beets, radishes, parsnips, and potatoes.  From this, my family gave me the name "Susie Roots" and it just seemed to stick.  Thus, Mrs. Root's Organics was born! 

At Mrs. Root's Organics, our mission is to nourish people with extraordinary foods that promote health and healing but still excite and satisfy the taste buds.  Our products are created in an intentional and unconventional way, combining the yummy taste of organic baked goods with vitamin-rich vegetables and fruits.  The fiber and nutrients in the vegetables and fruit we add make each muffin hearty and satisfying while keeping blood sugars balanced. We use ingredients that are fresh and unprocessed without the use of dairy, eggs, or refined sugars. Many of our muffins are gluten-free and all are either vegetarian or vegan.
